Saturday, July 2nd (day 3/365)

Saturday is bonus day - THREE pictures!  

Since both Jeremy and I stink at keeping plants alive, and our entire backyard is sand we decided that we would go with the ground covering that you buy in a roll at Home Depot - that's right - ASTROTURF!!  Our friends Sathya and Leslie came over on Saturday to help "carpet our yard" and we managed to mostly astroturf half of the backyard.  It is still really lumpy, and I don't think that either of us realized exactly how shiny it would be, but at least it looks better than the jungle of weeds that previously covered our yard.  We figure we are just going to have to embrace being the tacky neighbors.  Next up we'll add a few pink flamingos and maybe one of those mini-golf windmills. 

After we finished the yard, we grilled and hung out outside admiring our handiwork.

 Sathya also brought his dog Darwin over so he and Phoebe slobbered on each other a bit.  We also introduced Darwin to the boys next door and it was all fun and games until he popped their big ball.  Then they were kind of done with the puppy.

 It was a really fun evening with friends and neighbors.
