Sunday, September 4 (day 67/365)

This Sunday morning, we put an old baby gate up in the doorway between the living room and the kitchen.  We built a mini-perimeter around part of the living room to create a semi-contained area that we're calling baby jail.  Guess who is not amused.
What is going on here?  I don't think I approved this.

Sad baby says she is innocent - let her out of jail!

We also went to the county fair!  We had a fun family day out.  Phoebe wasn't as big a fan of the animals as we thought she would be, but she loved her first carousel ride.

Jeremy wants Grandma Joyce to know that this is as close as Phoebe is ever going to get to a pony.

She loves her stuffed turkey, so Phoebe was pretty excited to see the real thing.

The highlight of the trip was definitely the carousel

BUNNIES!!!

Saturday, September 3 (day 66/365)

Saturday afternoon at the park with Daddy

Friday, September 2 (day 65/365)

Danger has decided that if he has to put up with the baby, the least she can do is share her breakfast

Waffle-napper in action!

Feeding the baby waffles!!  Babies can't eat waffles! But, babies with TEETH can!!!

Bad Bloggers!

Just a quick check in to let everyone know we're still alive.  Sorry there haven't been any Phoebe pictures in a while - rest assured we've been snapping away, we just haven't had any time to post.  The start of the school year has been really rough for me and I am already behind in a lot of my work-related tasks.  Since I'm working full time+, I try to maximize my Phoebe time when I am home.  Then, as soon as she goes to sleep it is back to work.  This means I haven't had much time to blog.  On top of everything, we've been having some rough nights lately - we're not sure if it is teeth, or an early appearance of the 9-month sleep regression.  I am not sure it really matters why we aren't getting any sleep at this point :)  New pictures soon ... or soonish anyway!

Thursday, September 1st (day 64/365)

A while ago, we were at a garage sale, and bought a bag of cool Fisher Price balls for a dollar.  The balls all have things inside of them that spin around when you roll the ball.  Phoebe loves the balls and plays with them all the time (I love them because they are easy to clean).  Then, a few weeks ago, we were at the baby consignment store and we saw a Fisher Price toy with a ramp for rolling balls.  I (naively it turns out) assumed that it must be made to work with the balls we already had - I mean surely Fisher Price has one standard size ball for all their toys - right?  Ha ha!  Wrong.  It turns out that Fisher Price has many sizes of balls, all specifically engineered to work in different toys.  We ended up having to purchase replacement balls for the ramp (for a total cost higher than the ramp itself I might add) directly from Fisher Price.  Anyway, on one end of the ramp is an elephant and if you put the ball in his ear, it comes out his trunk.  Jeremy was repeatedly shoving balls in the elephant's ear trying to show Phoebe how the toy works.  After watching Jeremy for a while, she figured it out!  You can see that she doesn't always get it quite right, but when she does, she's pretty excited.

Wednesday, August 31st (day 63/365)

Since this was potluck week at baby class, we went twice - once on Monday for our new class and once on Wednesday to hang out with our friends from the old class.  Phoebe was her usual mile-a-minute self.  When she wasn't trying to steal pizza from one of the other parents, she was terrorizing the little boys in class.  One little boy was so traumatized that towards the end of the night, he would burst into tears if Phoebe so much as made eye contact.  One really good thing about the Wednesday class though is that there are at least a couple of other babies who are just as physical as Phoebe.  It helps to know that she isn't the only baby like this!

Here is a picture of Phoebe the victor after she successfully evicted two (older) babies from a toy:

And here is a cute picture of Phoebe taking a quick daddy-snuggle break before continuing her reign of terror.

Tuesday, August 30th, (day 62/365)

You While my mom was here we took Phoebe to the aquarium.  Phoebe had a great time, and grandma had to be restrained before she bought the baby one of everything from the gift shop :)  Phoebe did end up with some adorable otter jammies and an aquarium themed ball.  The ball has been a huge hit.  Jeremy just mentioned that he thinks instead of a stuffed animal as a lovey, Phoebe has adopted this stuffed ball.  No matter what she is upset about, the ball will automatically calm her down and she takes it with her everywhere.  Here is a picture showcasing both the otter jammies and the ball:

In addition to all of her other skills, Phoebe has been working on figuring out doors.  She can close them but since she is too short to reach the doorknob, opening still poses an issue.

If you have been reading this blog for a while, you know that our cinematic skills leave a little something to be desired.  Usually, we'll notice the baby doing something cute, but by the time we get the camera and start recording, she's moved on.  We also do zero editing, so what we shoot is what gets posted.  These days Phoebe is really into splashing in the bath, so we thought we'd try to capture it.  What resulted was just a sad video of us trying to get the baby to splash and her laughing at our efforts:

I assure you she was splashing up a storm until we started recording, and she started splashing again as soon as we stopped.
